Chubbles had her first taste of solid food yesterday. We gave her a tiny bit of sweet potato puree, but we can't yet tell if she likes it or not. Getting it into her mouth was a bit of a challenge, as she didn't know how to use the spoon, so we used a bottle nipple. She made some funny faces at first but kept opening her mouth for more. All in all, she probably swallowed about a quarter teaspoon. We'll try again later today and see how she reacts. Next week we'll try giving her some banana puree. I know she'll like that, because the girl has a sweet tooth, just like her mom and dad.
Last night, after dinner, Chubbles proceeded to reach another major milestone - she slept in her little bed THE WHOLE NIGHT! This is the first time she ever did that, and it was great! I woke up several times to check on her and then panicked at about 5:00 a.m. because I thought she might be sick, but she was just fine. This probably won't happen again for a long time, but we're keeping our fingers crossed. She was probably dreaming of sweet potato puree!
As one of the pictures shows, Chubbles is also fine-tuning her piano-playing skills. She is quite adept at it and is getting better every day. She generally plays her own tunes, but she also takes requests. After about 30 years, Abuelo's (grandpa) investment in the piano is finally paying off!
Other news: Chubbles is "commando" crawling and is moving very fast. She goes right for the fringes on the rug when we're not looking. She's also mastered a fake cough, which she puts to use when she wants attention or doesn't want her bottle. We'd be worried, except that she always smiled and/or laughs when she does it...
